CrossFit & HYROX Competition Packing List: Don't Forget These Essentials

By No Ma'am Fit

You've trained for weeks. Maybe months. You've dialed in your nutrition, pushed through early morning workouts, and survived countless burpees, sled pushes, and heavy barbell sessions.

Don't let a forgotten pair of socks or a missing jump rope ruin your competition weekend.

Whether you're heading to your first local CrossFit competition or tackling your next HYROX race, here's the packing list every athlete should have before leaving home.

Competition Day Starts Before You Arrive

The best athletes don't just prepare in the gym—they prepare the night before.

Lay everything out. Double-check your bag. Then check it again.

Competition mornings are stressful enough without realizing your shoes are still sitting by the front door.

Apparel

You don't want to be worrying about your clothes when the workout starts.

Pack:

✅ 2–3 sports bras (preferably the Feeling Fast No Ma’am Bra)

✅ 2–3 workout tanks or crop tops

✅ 2 pairs of leggings or shorts (Hint: Fit for Life)

✅ Lightweight hoodie

✅ Joggers

✅ Extra underwear

✅ Extra socks (seriously, pack more than you think you'll need)

If you're competing over multiple events, changing into dry clothes between workouts can make a huge difference in comfort and confidence.

Shoes

Don't assume one pair is enough.

Pack:

✔ Training shoes

✔ Running shoes (especially for HYROX)

✔ Recovery slides or sandals

Wet shoes from rain, sweat, or spilled drinks happen more often than you'd think.

Performance Gear

These are the items athletes forget most often:

  • Jump rope
  • Weightlifting belt
  • Wrist wraps
  • Knee sleeves
  • Grips
  • Lifting straps
  • Thumb tape
  • Athletic tape
  • Resistance bands
  • Chalk (if allowed)
  • Lacrosse ball
  • Mini massage gun
  • Mobility band

Recovery Items

Your body will thank you later.

Pack:

  • Electrolytes
  • Protein shakes
  • Recovery drink
  • Compression sleeves
  • Ice packs (if traveling locally)
  • Foam roller (optional)

Fuel

Never rely on vendor food.

Bring foods you've already trained with.

Ideas:

  • Bananas
  • Rice Krispie treats
  • Applesauce pouches
  • Honey packets
  • Bagels
  • Peanut butter
  • Beef jerky
  • Protein bars
  • Trail mix
  • Rice cakes
  • My Fave: Sour Patch Kids Watermelon Flavor

Don't experiment with new foods on race day.

Hydration

Bring more water than you think you'll drink.

Also pack:

  • Electrolytes
  • Large insulated water bottle
  • Energy drink (if it's part of your normal routine)

Hydration starts long before your first event.

Personal Care

Don't overlook the basics.

Pack:

  • Deodorant
  • Baby wipes
  • Face wipes
  • Dry shampoo
  • Hair ties
  • Lip balm
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Small towel

You'll appreciate these between events.

Recovery Between Events

Some of the biggest performance gains happen between workouts.

Take time to:

  • Eat something
  • Drink water
  • Walk around
  • Stretch
  • Change into dry clothes
  • Stay off your feet when possible

Recovery isn't being lazy—it's part of competing well.

Miscellaneous Must-Haves

  • Phone charger
  • Portable battery pack
  • Wallet
  • Cash
  • ID
  • Event registration confirmation
  • Pen
  • Folding chair
  • Blanket
  • Cooler
  • Trash bag for dirty clothes

If you're traveling with friends or family, a pop-up tent can also be a lifesaver for outdoor events.

One Thing You Can't Pack

Confidence.

That comes from every early morning, every missed lift you came back from, every workout you finished when quitting would've been easier.

Trust your training.

Trust yourself.

And remember why you signed up in the first place.

Our Favorite Competition Gear

At No Ma'am Fit, we design apparel for women who train hard and compete with confidence. Whether you're tackling a CrossFit competition, your first HYROX race, or simply showing up for another tough training session, your gear should work as hard as you do.

Our Fit for Life Leggings are designed to stay put through squats, lunges, burpees, sled pushes, and everything in between, so you can focus on your performance—not adjusting your waistband.

Because the only thing you should be thinking about on competition day is the workout in front of you.
